In 2006, “The Secret” was published and re-introduced to the world the phrase “The Law of Attraction”. But, what is the Law of Attraction and how can we use it in our everyday lives?
In the early to mid 19th Century, a group of organizations, authors, philosophers and ordinary people grouped together around a set of beliefs. These beliefs relate to healing, life force, creative visualization and personal power. This is known as the New Thought Movement which continues to the present day. The movement promotes the ideas that God is all powerful and ubiquitous, spirit is the totality of real things, true human self-hood is divine, divine thought is a force for good, all sickness originates in the mind, and ’right thinking’ has a healing effect.
The idea behind the Law of Attraction is not new. The concept can be found in Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism and Christianity. The principles of the Law of Attraction can also be found in several books throughout the years including “Isis Unveiled: Secrets of the Ancient Wisdom Tradition” by Helena, “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen and “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.
So, how do we use the Law of Attraction?
First, we must be clear about what we desire. And when we are clear, we must ask the “universe” for it.
Second, we must turn our attention to the thing we desired. Our attention must be charged with positive emotions such as enthusiasm or gratitude.
Thirdly, we must act as if we have already achieved our desire..
And finally, we must be open to receiving it.
Do we live in a world where we can manifest a new car from our thoughts? I am not entirely sure. But I am certain we live in a world where setting inspirational goals is much more likely to lead to success.
In 1953, survey was conducted with a graduate class at Yale University. The survey showed that on 4% of the class had written goals for their future. In 1973, the surviving members of the class of 1953 were interviewed. The results of the survey showed that the 4% who had written their goals were worth more than the rest of the class put together.
It is estimated that less than 5% of the population actually sit down to write down their goals. This is where I, as your Life Coach can help. As your Life Coach I will:
1. Help you set inspiring goals that are aligned with your life purpose
2. Show you how to focus your thoughts and energies into your goals and develop new positive habits
3. Support you to breakthrough self limiting thoughts and help you to develop new found confidence and self belief
4. Guide you to think, feel and follow through to act.
We are what we think. Our thoughts define our results. If we want different results we need to think different thoughts. Our thinking determines how we feel. If we are confident and believe in ourselves we get results. Our thoughts lead to our emotions which in turn leads to our actions (habits) which leads to our results. It’s that simple. Our thinking manifests our desires.
